Satan remember is the master of lies and deception, and there is NO one who is immune to his subterfuge
By Greg Holt
“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:” Colossians 1:13
The power of darkness – something not often taken literally, it tends to be thought of more like an evil fairy tale, emphasis on fairy tale.
What or who is this “power of darkness”? In the first place it is Satan, the undisputed ruler of this world – who again, is unfortunately not taken seriously, including by many who say that they believe in God. How can one believe in God but not Satan? Especially when the Bible has much to say about Satan, the devil, demons etc.
Secondly, in reference to the power of darkness, this also applies to the world at large. There are many people who are actually evil, these are those who knowingly or unknowingly serve the lord of evil. Then there are those who because of their unbelief also serve Satan – either your father is the devil, or your Father is God Almighty (John 8:44).
Satan remember is the master of lies and deception, and there is NO one who is immune to his subterfuge.
The Apostle Peter very vividly warns believers about the danger of Satan:
“8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9
This unbelief in Satan’s very existence plays right into his hands. This is an absolute master stroke by the genius behind all of the evil in the world. Read this excerpt from The Must Read Interview With Satan:
Me: So what about those who do not even believe you are real?
Satan: That is one of my finest works! I deceive and lure people to their deaths…permanent separation from God Himself and they do not even believe I exist…I love it!
The Bible and Jesus are pretty vocal about Hell and Satan, in other words, the power of darkness (Satan and the demons – fallen angels).
Satan IS the literal power behind the world’s darkness, or if you rather – evil. This is a war between evil, and good, good obviously being God.
Just look at the world around you, child sexual abuse, human trafficking, porn, the LGBTQ agenda, the created COVID virus, our irresponsible, corrupt and outright criminal government, etc. These are very serious, very dark concerns today. The flow of drugs, crime, violence, killings etc., the world in general is a dark and vile place.
All of this however boils down to a spiritual battle of epic proportions.
“12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12
But we have not been left defenseless. Ephesians 6 is in large part all about defending ourselves from this unholy and evil scourge upon humanity. Specifically Ephesians 6:10-18 deal with the armor of God.
James the brother of our Lord also gives warning:
“7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
The Lord has promised to help us:
“3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3
This is not to be taken as a promise that nothing bad will ever happen to us, but rather that we ourselves will be kept from the clutches of evil, not only are we destined for Heaven and a place beside it’s Creator – Jesus, we are assured that evil and it’s master (Satan) will not be be able to exercise a personal and redeemable claim over us.
Jesus Himself mentions battling Satan in our defense:
“10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
Even our very thoughts play into this spiritual battle field:
“4 (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
Thankfully, besides being told that Jesus fights for us, and that we have spiritual tools at our disposal in the battle against spiritual darkness, Jesus reassures us that He has in fact already won the ultimate battle against Satan, God wins!
“33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Jesus has overcome the world, and since Satan is the ruler of this world, then we know that Jesus has also overcome him. When Satan tempted Jesus with all the kingdoms of earth as his if He would worship Satan – and of course Jesus said, “not happening” (loose paraphrase), Jesus “win” (was there ever a doubt? – NO) was sealed for all eternity, unalterable, unchangeable, permanent.
The “world’s” fate is Hell. If you are a follower of, or become a follower of Jesus, your destination is Heaven, eternal life with God.
The best part? Nothing Satan or any of his agents can do will ever be able to change that. Yes we all will suffer in this life, that is a given, but our eternal destination is secure regardless of what happens to us in this life.
If you have placed your trust, hope, and faith in Christ, then you are assured of being with Him in Heaven. If you have not placed your faith in Him, if you have not asked Jesus to be a part of your life, have not repented of your sin and accepted the free gift of salvation, I pray that you will, today. Don’t wait, the next hour is not guaranteed, let alone tomorrow.
